Wild carp. They are worthy opponents that offer a fight on a different level than those in stocked fishing ponds. During the spawning season, you may encounter giant carp exceeding 3kg. It is the nature of an angler to challenge them and try to catch them. However, the stress on the rod can be many times greater than in stocked ponds. The Gamakatsu Kabuto is the result of four years of field testing for wild fishing, leading to the realization that a standard carp rod is not enough and a design specifically for wild carp is necessary to confront giant carp. This led to the development of a rod with three major features. The first feature is the adoption of an extra-thick tip. The thick tip allows the angler to turn the giant carp's head towards them the moment they strike, enabling them to evade the initial rush. The second feature is the use of thick, high-strength carbon, which suppresses the rod's rebound speed while providing torque-like strength. The bending point moves from near the tip towards the center and body of the rod, allowing the rod's supple strength to absorb the charge of giant carp. The third feature is the original grip and rotating ferrule designed specifically for the Gamakatsu Kabuto. To significantly reduce the load on the hands during the fight, E.V.A. material, which has grip and elasticity and fits comfortably in the hand, is used. The butt cap is intentionally omitted to avoid concentrating the burden on one part of the hand. The rotating ferrule has sufficient strength and is attached to the tip section with an adhesion area more than three times the usual size, making it difficult to detach. This is a supreme rod that we can confidently recommend to carp anglers pursuing record-breaking giant carp they have yet to encounter.
