Music Man Type Custom Bass 4.0kg
This is a custom-built instrument with an unknown manufacturer for both the neck and body. While it has a good sound, there were issues with playability, which have been improved by reattaching the tuning pegs, replacing the bridge, and adjusting the neck set angle. The neck is straight and now comfortable to play.
There are signs of wood filler used to plug holes for string-through-body and bridge mounting, as well as some minor putty work. The pickguard, P&MM pickups, and finger rest are distinctive features. It has a battery box on the back, but the pickups and circuitry are passive, so no battery is needed. The pickups are also from an unknown manufacturer, but both produce a solid, thick tone. The body wood appears to be swamp ash, but this is uncertain. Weight is 4.0kg.
The frets are medium-jumbo, with sufficient height in the lower positions. They appear to have been leveled, and while the higher positions are generally low, there are no dead notes and it plays normally with no issues to sustain. It also lacks the dead spot around the 5th-7th frets on the 1st string that is common on Fenders.
The tuning pegs are Schaller, and the bridge is a Fender HiMass Bass Bridge. Controls are 2V1T, with a pickup selector mini-switch. Flatwound strings are currently installed.
I kept this as a practice/backup instrument because of its good sound, but I am selling it to fund other guitar purchases. A soft case is included.
Please refrain from purchasing if you are seeking precise settings like action below 2mm, or if you are sensitive about the condition of the instrument.
Price negotiation is not possible. Requests/comments regarding price reductions will be ignored. Thank you for your understanding.
