69-year-old color slides: Horyu-ji Temple, 1957, 10 frames, for foreign visitors at the time
Bulk purchase requests are welcome.
Product Overview
- Album of vintage color photo slides (also known as positive film, reversal film) from the Showa era.
- Publisher: Fuji Color Photo
- Publication Year: 1957
- Title: Japan in Color - Horyuji Temple
- Number of Slides: 10 frames
- Locations: As described on the booklet's explanation page, 10 locations at Horyuji Temple, Nara (overall view, Chumon Gate, Kongo Rikishi statues at Chumon Gate, Five-story Pagoda, clay figures at the Five-story Pagoda, Kondo Hall, Shaka Triad, Tamamushi Shrine, Kudara Kannon, Yumedono Hall).
- This was sold as a souvenir for foreign visitors to Japan at the time.
- Since cameras and photography (especially color photography) were expensive back then, slide films like these were apparently popular as souvenirs.
- Therefore, more of these seem to remain overseas than in Japan (this is also a used item purchased in the US).
Condition
- The booklet has some damage and dirt, and the films have generally faded to red and have some minor scratches due to age, but considering they are 69 years old, I believe the condition is not bad.
- Although the films appear faded to red, the colors can be restored to some extent by simply applying automatic correction with general image editing software to the scanned images.
- On the 9th image, I have attached an image where the photo part of the 8th image has been automatically color-corrected with editing software (PhotoScapeX), so please check it (I think it will look even better if you scan it properly with a film scanner and then correct it).
Shipping
- Will be shipped in a Nekoposu dedicated box.
