Longaberger Basket Newspaper Magazine 1999 Protector Divider Leather Handles
Longaberger Newspaper Basket, item 17329, handwoven in 1999 in the classic stain — with its plastic protector, and original product card. What's included: The basket, maker-signed and dated 1999 on the underside The fitted clear plastic protector with its removable acrylic center divider The original Longaberger Classic Baskets product card (Newspaper 17329) Approximate measurements: 15¾ long × 11 wide, 10¼ tall at the front rising to 12¼ at the back. This is the slant-back form Longaberger built for magazines and newspapers, with two rolled leather stitched handles at the ends and triple upsplints for strength — the reason these hold their shape under weight the way lighter baskets don't. It was introduced during the 1999 Christmas campaign and retired from the regular line in 2008. Both leather handles here are intact and still supple, with their brass rivets tight. Condition, plainly: this basket was used. It's in good shape for a basket that saw service, but it isn't a shelf queen. One chipped splint end at a bottom corner A chipped and roughened splint end along the top rim near a rivet Light white scuffing across several splints from handling and contact A cream adhesive label on the interior bottom, which would sit under a liner if you use one Some faint handwriting on the bottom splints beyond the maker's signature All of it is photographed in close-up. The weaving is tight, nothing is broken or separating, and it functions exactly as intended.
