VTG Benihana of Tokyo Japan Tanuki Bear Collectible Beverage Tiki Mug

This listing is for a vintage ceramic Tanuki tiki sippy mug, made in Taiwan in the 1960s. A rare piece of history. Fun mug! The Tanuki mug is based on the Japanese raccoon dog of the same name. He is a popular symbol in Japan and is often found in restaurants. This version is white and has a large belly, large testicles and a big hat. It is distinguished from other white versions of this mug by the marking on bottom, a right ear cocked upward, and very defined swirls on the cheeks. See other listing for the Canoe boy Manufacturer Orchids of Hawaii Pre-owned. No ships, crazing, good condition: does show minimal signs of age.
