Beautiful, highly collectible piece of vintage Western Americana: a 1977 Chief Joseph commemorative belt buckle complete with its genuine brown leather belt strap. This detailed oval buckle features a high-relief 3D design honoring Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce tribe on horseback with his hands raised against a sweeping mountain landscape. The reverse side of the buckle is officially stamped and hallmarked: 1977 Bergamot Brass Works, Siskiyou Leather and Buckle Co., and Arroyo Grande Leather and Buckle Co. Condition: Good vintage condition. Some minor surface wear on the buckle. Please note that because this is a thick, authentic vintage 1970s leather strap, the sizing holes are currently quite tight. It takes some firm pressure to push the buckle's metal rear prong completely through the holes. The leather will naturally soften up and stretch out with continued regular use, or it can be easily loosened by the buyer using standard leather conditioner. Please see all photos.
